The Polish Lowland Sheepdog also known as the Polski Owczarek Nizinny - PON, is a medium-sized dog, with a shaggy coat, incredible intelligence and an excellent memory. He is a typical herding dog, who doesn't always trust strangers, and can be protective of his flock. He is not a one person dog, he loves all his family and is excellent with children. He is most happy when all his family is together. Pon is an independent thinker, smart, loyal and self-confident. He can be very stubborn. Pon will always think twice before doing anything, but it is not hard to train him. They are very active dogs, who love to work with people. They have their own opinion, but they will be your best friend and companion forever. Pons are quite loud breeds, who will always inform their family if a stranger is coming, and they also love to talk. Often they bark with emotions, and make many different sounds. In the past Pons have lived in flocks and watched over sheep. They had to be very independent and find their own food. He will always be hungry, after eating a full bowl he comes and ask for more. There are polish sheepdogs who know how to open the fridge or open jars! Pons love to work with humans, they learn new things very quickly, they are good at agility, herding sheep, or as therapy dogs.
They are dogs for active people, they need good walks every day, lots of stimulation and contact with people. If you train him well then he will be best friend for all your family!
