I am from Poland and my husband Dusan is from Serbia. We had a whirlwind romance and got married in one week, in jeans and converse. We love to travel, and our dogs Gleda and Junior love to travel with us. Gleda has visited several countries in Europe, even her 8 puppies in her tummywent 5000 miles from Poland to England, through Serbia and Macedonia whilst she won some dog shows there and got a champion title.
We lived in Serbia for over 3 years, there we also got out first Pon, second in the whole country - Gleda Dziechcinek. Before we decided to have a Pon we had a wonderful dog, named Montoya. He was such an intelligent dog and was very devoted to us. Before he came to us he lived on the street, twice was hit by a car, limping and could not see from one eye. He walked without a lead and never gave us any trouble. He meant a lot to us, we loved him so much but he passed away very young. The name of our kennel PONTOYA is taken from the name of Montoya in his memory.
We started dreaming about The Pon, because we wanted another dog with a shaggy coat who was very clever like Montoya. We waited a year for Gleda, who fulfilled all our expectations and gave us even more - true love from this polish sheepdog. We wanted a female for breeding and for dog shows. In Serbia Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are not such a popular breed, therefore we have been very happy to promote them at dog shows and also on our walks. We fell in love with Pons with the help of Beata Lesniak - Malecka owner of Dziechcinek's kennel, she trusted us with her puppy and let Gleda move so far away from Poland. She has helped us a lot, with her advice and huge knowledge of Pons. This kind of breeder is not easy to find.
When Gleda was 2 years old we decided to move to another country. We packed all our belongings into the car with a tent and sleeping bags and went to beautiful Norway. We stayed for 3 months. Gleda loved our wild life in the midst of nature, she enjoyed swimming in fjords, slept in the small tent and watched the wild animals. After a couple of months travelling, we came to England and settled in the beautiful, small town of Wallingford, on the River Thames in Oxfordshire.
Soon came Gleda's nephew - Junior Dziechcinek, who brought a lot of joy and smiles to our home. Junior is growing up into a beautiful dog, despite his young age he has quickly achieved a lot of successes. He got to the final where he won the Puppy Pastoral Group, at Crufts 2017 he won the junior class, and also has lots of Best Puppy in Breed titles. He made us so proud. Junior has also started sheepdog training with an experienced trainer with huge knowledge who represents the UK at the international sheepdog trials. Junior is still a young dog, but he is making a good progress. We also go to dog shows with Gleda sometimes, but she doesn't enjoy them too much. While we lived in Serbia at 10 months old she was Junior Champion of Serbia, then Champion of Serbia and Champion of Macedonia. For now she just needs one CACIB to be a International Champion. At Crufts 2016 she got 2nd place in the Postgraduate Class, at a Championship show in Bath she got Reserve Best of Bitch on over 24 entried pons!
She also won the Limit Class for Polish Lowland Sheepdog Club Show in 2016. She also got to final and won second place in all the Pastoral Groups. For now Gleda prefers to do agility training and she is not taking part in as many shows. She became a mother to 8 beautiful puppies in June 2017. She surprised us a lot, and she is still so young!
We always wanted a house full of dogs. Dogs are members of our family, they give us so many happy times and teach us so much. We are best friends, spend time together, look after each other, sometimes we argue but we share all those good and bad moments. The puppies are raised at home with our family, with much love and care. We would like to find them the best homes with active, loving families. We hope that people will fall in love with the Polish Sheepdog, as we have, then we will have accomplished what we set out to do.
